When human beings began learning more about their origins and renouncing God, scientists came up with a new term: eugenics. This discipline was meant to explore methods of achieving the best possible human gene pool. Devotees believed that eugenics could save mankind and improve the world, and the Nazis brought it to horrific perfection. The pseudoscientific methods served their ultimate goal: the Final Solution. Director Pavel Štingl has combined unique archival materials and animated passages with literary commentary by writer Patrik Ouředník to create a timeless essay that reflects on history and the thin line that separates legitimate science from its misuse.
